MIAMI – September 20, 2016 – TELEMUNDO announced today more English and Spanish-language musical acts joining the impressive lineup of stars to perform at the second annual “Latin American Music Awards” (Latin AMAs). Latin urban music singer and five-time nominee Nicky Jam, Venezuelan music legend Franco de Vita, chart-topping rapper LunchMoney Lewis, iconic bilingual world music group La Santa Cecilia, Cuban reggaeton (cubaton) singer and two-time nominee Jacob Forever, nominee and millennial sensation Becky G, Colombian group ChocQuibTown and traditional Cuban music singer Aymee Nuviola will be joining previously announced performers Pitbull, Flo Rida, Miguel Bose, Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga, Lucero, CNCO, Gente de Zona, Gerardo Ortiz, Jesse & Joy, Prince Royce, Joey Montana, Baby Rasta & Gringo, Alvaro Soler, Sofia Reyes and Dvicio. Produced by TELEMUNDO and SOMOS Productions, the awards show will broadcast live on Thursday, October 6 at 8pm/7c from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA. The show will also be simulcast on NBC UNIVERSO, and preceded by the carpet pre-show “La Alfombra de Latin AMAs” at 7pm/6c. Five-time nominee and one of reggaeton’s most prolific artists, Nicky Jam has collaborated over the years with a long list of performers, but their recent collaboration with legendary rock band Mana on the remake of the classic “De Pies a Cabeza” has taken the music world by surprise. Nicky Jam’s “El Perdon,” with Enrique Iglesias became the second-longest running No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart in 2015 spending 30 weeks at the top. “Hasta El Amanecer” became his second chart-topper earlier this year, spending 14 weeks at No. 1.
One of the most iconic voices in Latin music, Franco De Vita just released “Libre,” his first studio album in five years. As one the most popular Latin pop artists to ever emerge from Venezuela, Franco De Vita is a pop/rock singer/songwriter whose career took off in the late ’80s with international smash hits such as “Solo Importas Tu,” “Te Amo,” and “Louis.” He has had 25 hits on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, including 11 top 10s and one No. 1. His song “No Basta” spent 6 weeks at No. 1 in 1991.
A rapper and writer who catapulted to superstardom during the 2014-2015 season, LunchMoney Lewis landed a feature on Nicki Minaj’s album “The Pinkprint” after years working professionally in music. A year later, he introduced his solo career with the boisterous single “Bills” that peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart. Lunch Money Lewis appears in Pitbull’s recent release “Greenlight” also featuring Flo Rida.
In the midst of an extensive U.S. tour, award-winning group La Santa Cecilia exemplifies the modern day creative hybrid of Latin culture, rock and world music. Its unique sound and experience of the colorful passionate performances leave fans mesmerized. They are proud to emerge from the City of Angels. The group’s latest album “Buenaventura,” debuted earlier this year at No. 3 on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart. Jacob Forever, who was formerly a member of Gente De Zona, is part of the new urban Cuban movement that is finally seeing life outside the island. His “El Inmortal” album released in 2015 featured the hit single “Hasta Que Se Seque el Malecon.” Nominee Becky G just launched the video to her new song “Sola,” which is currently soaring up the Hot Latin Songs chart; It’s her third song on the chart since her debut in 2014. ChocQuibTown is a Colombian hip-hop and alternative music band that mixes urban sounds with folklore. The group earned its first No. 1 on the Billboard Tropical Songs chart in August when “Desde El Dia En Que Te Fuiste” spent a week at the top. Aymee Nuviola known as “La Sonera del Mundo” has had six hits on the Billboard Tropical Songs chart. Her latest track “Bailando Todo Se Olvida” debuted recently at No. 39.
