The Awards Show that Celebrates Latino Pop Culture Returns August 24 at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami
Miami, FL – July 12, 2017 – Telemundo’s “Premios Tu Mundo” (Your World Awards), one of the most popular award shows in Spanish-language television, will announce this year’s nominees on Wednesday, July 19th at 9am/8cduring the network’s morning show “Un Nuevo Dia.” Produced by Telemundo and Tony Mojena/Ants TV Production, Inc., the annual awards show returns to the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, Florida for its 6th edition, and will be broadcast live on Thursday August 24, 2017at 8pm/7c, with a lead-in one-hour pre-show special “La Alfombra de Premios Tu Mundo” at 7pm/6c. Tickets for the ceremony will go on sale through Ticketmaster.com and the AA Arena box office on July 19th.
“Premios Tu Mundo” is a true celebration of U.S. Latino culture, allowing fans to select their favorite actors, musical artists, TV personalities, fan clubs and influencers through a selection process that combines the power of television, web, mobile and social media platforms. In addition to its carpet pre-show “La Alfombra de Premios Tu Mundo,” “Premios Tu Mundo” will air simultaneously on Universo, the fastest growing Spanish-language entertainment cable network in the U.S., and in 24 countries throughout the Americas via Telemundo Internacional.
Since its premiere in 2012, “Premios Tu Mundo” has become one of the biggest musical broadcast events in the U.S. Hispanic market. Last year’s show reached 4.3 million total viewers and 2.2 million adults18-49 making Telemundo the #1 Spanish-language network during primetime among adults 18-49. Furthermore, during the three-hour simulcast on Telemundo and Universo, the show ranked as the #1 Broadcast Program in terms of Social Media Engagement across all networks and program types.
Last year’s edition of “Premios Tu Mundo” was hosted by six of the most popular TV personalities in Spanish language television: Carlos Ponce, Maritza Rodriguez, David Chocarro, Aracely Arambula, Rafael Amaya and Fernanda Castillo. The event featured high-energy performances by Chino & Nacho, Daddy Yankee, Intocable, Jose Feliciano, DJ Juan Magan, Luis Enrique, Farruko, Reik, Regulo Caro, and Sin Bandera, among others. Top music winners included Daddy Yankee, Chino y Nacho, Calibre 50 and Gloria Trevi. Norteño band Intocable took home the special award of the night “El poder en ti (The Power In You)” for their charitable work, while Dr. Ana Maria Polo, one of the most prominent and influential figures in Hispanic TV, received the special award “Estrella de Tu Mundo” (Star of Your World) in celebration of her 15 years in television. Top acting winners included Rafael Amaya, earning three awards for his legendary role as Aurelio Casillas in “El Señor de los Cielos”; and Fernanda Castillo, Danna Paola and Gaby Espino, who won two awards each.
