The app added its own version of what many know as “Snapchat Stories”: the ability to post ephemeral photo and video slideshows that disappear after 24 hours. Now, the grand dilemma most users have had since the app’s newest addition is whether to continue using Snapchat or move over to Instagram for both features under the same roof. And on a bigger scale, what about businesses, brands, and events—where do they stand?

With only seven months running, the premature state of this new feature has proved to have much bigger usage results than long-running app Snapchat. With 600 million monthly and 300 million daily users, Instagram has also announced the launch of ads mixed into Stories, making this an unpassable opportunity. Below, five reasons why an Instagram story has become the feature of choice when it comes to organically reaching your audience:

Your target audience is already there. Unlike Snapchat you don’t have to focus on adding and building a following. If your current Instagram account has 1000k following, they are immediately going to be exposed to whatever is on your story.

Instagram stories are easier to connect with people. You can tag brands, companies and usernames as well as geo-locations which you cannot do on Snapchat.

Instagram is less personal and more professional, which works best for brands. Snapchat is fun, but most users keep their account private and their friends’ list very personal, much like Facebook. Whereas with Instagram, everyone can follow you, which translates to everyone seeing your Instagram story if you’re a brand or have an event.

Through the same feature, Instagram now allows you to connect in real time with individuals by going “Live”. If you have an event, people can become a part of the experience on your story in an instant.

An Instagram story creates a more personalized connection with individuals. If you have an event, people can immediately put their experience on their story for their followers and tag you, translating to an even larger audience.

The phenomenon of trending apps to catch what is happening “in the moment“ is consistently increasing, but I am sure we can all agree that the least apps we need to do the same thing, the better. Am I right? As for the collective decision on how society wants to take this rivalry, one thing is certain, more businesses and brands are switching over to a “one app has it all” mentality for a better and more efficient shot at reaching a greater target audience in a personal and authentic way.

On August 2016, Instagram introduced a new spin to its app, or better yet, should we say borrowed spin?
